The human body has both visible parts and invisible parts. The invisible parts of the body are made up of energy.
People in Asian countries and eastern cultures have understood the body’s energy for centuries, such as in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Only recently has western American culture begun to accept it.
Like a magnet has a magnetic field, our bodies have an energy field. These fields are “invisible” but we can see their effects.
We can see the effects of a magnetic field if we sprinkle tiny bits of iron on a surface then hold a magnet near it. The magnetic field causes the iron bits to form a specific pattern.
In other words, unseeable forces often shape the material world.
The energy field of the body is the same way. We cannot see it but it is there. We see its effects in how we act, react, and interact with the world and the people around us.
To understand that, we also have to understand that our individual energy field can store things, like a hard drive stores information. Instead of digital files, our energy field stores beliefs and emotions. And those beliefs and emotions are like programs that lead us to act and think in certain ways.
Programming Our Energy and Our Lives
So where do those beliefs and emotions—those programs—come from? Generally, they come from 3 places:
Our DNA,
Our childhood, or
Traumatic experiences.
As we experience these things (or, in the case of DNA, from the time we come into being), these programs become subconsciously stored in our body’s energy.
The Subconscious Mind
Our subconscious is the part of our mind that is responsible for helping us do things we don’t want to expend repeated mental energy on, like walking, getting dressed, brushing teeth, driving, etc. If we had to think about how to do these things, we wouldn't have the mental space to think about anything else.
So we create subconscious programs that work in the background telling us how to do these things without us giving it any real thought.
The problem is that we do the same thing with negative impulses or reactions
If we have negative programming (from DNA, our childhood, or a past traumatic experience) that tells us to shut down whenever someone wants to talk about their feelings, we will do that without even thinking.
If we have programming that tells us we are worthless if we make mistakes, we will feel that way every time we do something imperfectly. This also applies to physical symptoms like neck pain or gut pain. Neck pain can often be contributed to someone being a pain in the neck. Gut pain can be from feeling stuck and the gut gets temporarily stuck and causes gas pain.
Clearly, this kind of subconscious programming is hurting, not helping, us.
Reprogramming Our Subconscious
So how do we begin to change those subconscious programs? Well, we have to get to the root of the problem.
Emotional release is a technique that can address the real source of a subconscious program—the beliefs and emotions we are storing in our body and our energy. If we can get to the core belief and the primary emotion, we can replace the negative program with a positive one.
Sometimes it’s like a tree trunk, with rings upon rings built up over time. We have to start by peeling off the bark. Then we have to work our way through layers of emotions and beliefs—and the energy that holds them—until we reach the core.
Once we’ve uncovered the deep, foundational issue, we can change those programs into positive ones.
This is when things like positive thinking and self-affirmations can help to make the change we want to see in ourselves. But often, that isn’t even needed. Addressing the root of the issue is often all we need in order to release it from our body’s energy and feel better.
